Harris Aspire – rated ‘Good’ at its first Ofsted inspection
Harris Aspire has been inspected for the first time by Ofsted and rated ‘Good’. Teaching, leadership, outcomes for pupils and the sixth form were all judged ‘Outstanding’.
The academy, which opened in 2013, offers alternative provision with a difference. With students from schools across London, Ofsted inspectors said that it has ‘a culture of high aspirations’ and ‘a shared sense of purpose’.
Key highlights of the report include:
“Teachers will not accept less than the best that pupils are capable of.”
“Disruptions to learning are rare.”
“The behaviour of pupils is good. Many plan to return to a mainstream sixth form.”
“All groups of pupils make rapid progress…because they are extremely well supported.”
“Disadvantaged pupils do as well as or better than their peers within school and other pupils nationally. There are very few gaps across subjects and those that do exist are tiny.”
“The success rate of students who remain within the Federation (for sixth form) is high.”
