Society & Relationships
Personal, Social, Health and Economic (PSHE) Education
As a part of your child’s education at Aspire, Personal, Social, Health and Economic (PSHE) Education and Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) are central to our Personal Development curriculum. Through weekly lessons, students develop the knowledge, understanding and skills they need to stay safe, maintain positive physical and mental wellbeing, build healthy relationships, make informed decisions and successfully navigate the opportunities and challenges of modern life. As students prepare for adulthood, the curriculum also helps them develop the confidence, resilience and independence needed for their next steps in education, employment and beyond.
Our curriculum is designed around the real-life experiences and challenges young people face today. Lessons are discussion-based and encourage students to think critically, reflect on their own values and beliefs, and develop respect for themselves and others.
What do students learn?
In Years 10 and 11, students explore a range of topics that support their wellbeing, safety and future success, including:

Students are encouraged to discuss contemporary issues, consider different viewpoints and develop the communication, critical thinking and problem-solving skills needed for adult life. These lessons also help students understand how to seek support for themselves or others when needed.
Preparing for Life Beyond Aspire
As our students move closer to adulthood, PSHE focuses on helping them become confident, informed and independent young people. We support students to make positive choices about their health, relationships, education and careers, ensuring they are well prepared for further study, employment and life beyond school.
At Harris Academy Aspire, we believe that successful personal development is just as important as academic achievement. Through PSHE, students develop the character, resilience and life skills needed to thrive in an ever-changing world.
